Britain

TWith typical British control and precision, the games appear completely honest according to reports from IBC members. The dealers are quick and very businesslike, dealing one third faster than in Las Vegas. The rules are not ideal, but the game can be beaten with the Hi-Opt I. All games are four decks dealt face up out of a shoe. The dealer does not take a hole card (hence British style), stands on soft 17, and doubling is allowed on 9, 10, and 11 only. Insurance is allowed only on a player natural versus a dealer Ace up. Pair splitting is allowed except for 4s, Ss, and lOs. No resplitting of pairs is allowed, nor surrender, but doubling down after splits is allowed. No tipping is allowed, and there are no dealer refunds for doubling or splitting when the dealer Black-jacks.

The British casino people are aware of winning players and will bar them when detected, or not deal more than two of the four decks against a player they suspect. Because of the tight rules, you will have to use a betting range of either one to sixteen if you use the level of Hi-Opt described in Chapters Six and Seven, and one to eight if you incorporate the information in Chapter Eight. To keep from being detected you will have to disguise your bet-ting as shown in Chapter Ten, then hide your winnings if you can.
